Happy 8th March from EWORA!

On this 8 March 2025, we join the world in celebrating International Women’s Day, under the theme “For ALL women and girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment,” as promoted by UN Women. This year’s theme calls for action to unlock equal rights, power, and opportunities for all, ensuring a feminist future where no one is left behind. EWORA remains committed to advancing these values, particularly in academia, where we continue to strive for gender equality and inclusivity.

Webinar on Gender Equality in Higher Education – 5 March 2025
In honor of International Women’s Day 2025, the European Women Rectors Association (EWORA) and the International Association of Universities (IAU) hosted a vital discussion on how higher education institutions can take action to promote gender equality—through teaching, research, campus initiatives, and community engagement. This event brought together experts to explore policies, institutional strategies, and innovative approaches that foster collaboration, support academics and staff, and drive interdisciplinary research.

EWORA Conference in Lisbon - June 2025
Looking ahead, we are excited to announce the EWORA Conference 2025 on 26-27 June 2025 kindly hosted by Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP) in Lisbon, Portugal. The theme, “Gender Equality in the Academy is Fragile: Is Values-Led Leadership the Answer?,” will explore how values-led leadership can create lasting change in achieving gender equality in higher education. This event is proudly supported by NordForsk, and we encourage you to join us in Lisbon to share ideas and strategies that will shape the future of gender equality in academia.
